As a firm, we’re serious about making a positive difference. Not just to our clients, but the communities we’re part of and the wider world too. Bring a head full of bright ideas and a clear sense of purpose, and in return we’ll give you the chance to do the same.
Each year, we elect two main charities, which we support for 12 months. We also run a Volunteer Day Scheme that gives staff the chance to take paid time off to work with charities. In recent years, our people have refurbished classrooms, contributed to primary school reading schemes and served lunches to the homeless.
Pro bono work is a fundamental part of life at Baker McKenzie. From providing commercial support to charities, through to human rights research and advocacy, it gives our lawyers a chance to help those who may not otherwise have access to justice. Our key pro bono clients include Amnesty International, Save the Children and UNHCR.
For us, responsible business means building a firm for the future — one that can support our clients’ success, while preserving our commitments to our people, our communities and our planet. On that basis, we have placed sustainability at the core of our business strategy for the coming decade.
We strive to use our skills, creativity and influence to promote dignity, human rights and equality in every aspect of what we do. Whether fostering our own internal culture, interacting with global clients, or engaging with the communities where we live and work, we are guided by these principles.
Being the only Band 1 ranked firm for Climate Change for the 13th consecutive year (Chambers 2020) and the Best Law Firm in the Voluntary Carbon Market Rankings (Environmental Finance 2020) underlines our commitment to environmental sustainability.
Good governance is the cornerstone of good business. That’s why, as a firm, we are committed to promoting transparency, ethical behaviour, and accountability both within our own operations, and externally through our influence, counsel and strategic partnerships.
Whether you’re still at university and you’re weighing up your career options or you’ve already graduated and know want to be a commercial lawyer, there’s a programme at Baker McKenzie that can help put you on the right track.
Along with a starting salary that's in the upper quartile of City law firms, we offer a comprehensive package of other great benefits too.
To support and encourage our people to bring their whole selves to Baker McKenzie, we celebrate individuality and foster a culture of respect and collaboration.
