Baker McKenzie’s strong international presence initially attracted me to the Firm. It’s renowned all over the world, and the chance to work with global clients on high net-worth matters was really appealing.

I’ve only been here for six months, so I’ve only experienced one seat so far – in Employment. The next will be in Corporate Reorganisations. Yet, in such a short space of time, I’ve already learned so much and met so many great people. I’ve collaborated with the Firm’s diversity networks to organise a Neurodiversity in Law event, and a Talent Incubator to help junior and mid-level ethnic minority lawyers progress to senior level.

I’ve been really impressed with the Firm’s diversity initiatives. There are networks such as BakerEthnicity and BakerWellbeing, and mentoring sessions and events too. Having grown up in Malaysia and the UK, and having always enjoyed meeting people from a variety of backgrounds, I’m keen to help make the legal profession more diverse and inclusive. With so many great initiatives at Baker McKenzie, I know I’ll be able to do that here.

I also liked how I was instantly made to feel welcome and at ease, especially during the Assessment Centres and Vacation Schemes. The people were so friendly and down-to-earth and I knew they were people I’d want to work with. Throughout my time here, the focus has always been on helping me do my best work and letting me pursue my interests in an encouraging and supportive environment.

Looking to the future, I’m focused on progressing myself at Baker McKenzie within my areas of interest, and continuously developing as a lawyer. I’m excited about getting involved in a variety of interesting work with all my seats, and continuing to play a role in delivering diversity and inclusion initiatives.
