Corporate Partner, Trainee Partner and member of the Graduate Recruitment Panel
Studied Law at Kings College London, LLM at Cambridge

I’ve been with Baker McKenzie for my entire career. I joined the Malaysian office when it first opened and actually came to the London office on a secondment as part of the Associate Training Programme. I loved it so much that I decided to stay!

The London effect

The London office is full of opportunities; it’s lively, energetic, exciting, and a really innovative place within the market. It’s the openness and lack of hierarchy that’s my favourite thing though; it’s given me exposure to so many different aspects of the business. I’d encourage all students interested in a career in law to see our offices for themselves. We have a range of programmes available to students including our new First Year Programme. Somewhere between an Open Day and a Vacation Scheme, it’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of Baker McKenzie to see if it’s the career and firm for you.

Karen’s advice

Sitting on the Graduate Recruitment Panel, I often find that, in person, graduates are quite different from the person they present on their applications. I think people think that there’s a particular way of writing an application form and presenting themselves on paper that is the right way of doing it, but it would be nice to see more personality on the written form.

Now you’ve met some of our people, we hope you’re ready to apply. Alternatively, you can carry on exploring.
