Going places

The opportunity to travel and work in other jurisdictions is what really attracted me to Baker McKenzie. Before I graduated, I took part in the International Vacation Scheme, spending four weeks in the London office and another four in Washington, DC. It was great to experience how the Firm operated in another jurisdiction, and really fun to get a snapshot of what my working life would look like. During my Training Contract I was offered a secondment with a client and another in the Dispute Resolution team in our Hong Kong office. Those experiences have given me a bit of an edge in terms of understanding how disputes work in other jurisdictions, but even sitting at my desk in London I work with clients all over the world.

Work hard, play hard

There’s a great social and extra-curricular side to the Firm; I’ve been a member of the netball team since I was a Trainee, and it’s a really good opportunity to get to know your colleagues in a different setting.

Championing diversity

I’m also a member of BakerEthnicity, which is part of our inclusion and diversity programme. It’s a really great group and I’m really excited to be part of it.
