Variety of work

I’ve been working as a Trainee Solicitor in our Pensions department for five months, having already spent my first seat in Corporate Finance.

I’ve been drafting deeds and trust documentation, assisting with corporate multi-jurisdictional transactions, making bundles and researching and drafting memorandums of advice to clients. I’m learning something new every day and the variety of projects I’m undertaking means I have the opportunity to work with lots of different people in the business.

Highlight moment

I think what I’m most proud of is having been part of a team that successfully floated a medical company on the stock market. After really pushing to make it all come together, the whole team, Partners, Associates and Trainees, sat together at the printers to ensure the prospectus was finalised by the morning. It was challenging, but being among such dedicated people was hugely inspiring.

Looking ahead

I’d love to work in South America and being with a global Firm, like Baker McKenzie, means this could become a reality for me one day.

The training and support has really made a world of difference to me too. Already, I feel like I am a valued member of the team and I never expected to have accumulated so much experience in such a short span of time.

I never get that Sunday night feeling of dread. I love the work I’m doing and am inspired by the people I’m working with.
