I chose Baker McKenzie because of the genuinely friendly atmosphere which came across straight away on my assessment day. After the initial draw of the firm's global reach, well known clients, and reputation for high quality training, that warm welcome was the icing on the cake.

Down to business

The highlight of my time with the Firm so far was my secondment to one of the Firm's leading technology clients for six months. I was also excited to find myself working on receivership and the sale of The Gherkin. What’s best about working at Baker McKenzie is waking up and looking forward to coming into the office to do interesting work with people I really like. That’s what I’d tell anyone who asks me about Baker McKenzie. I really enjoy working here – in particular because of the supportive atmosphere throughout the Firm.

The Culture

The open door policy is my favourite thing about the culture of Baker McKenzie. When you need to run something by somebody or get advice, you know there is someone to talk to, whether that’s a fellow Trainee or a Partner. In addition the Firm is really good at providing ongoing training, which helps you keep both your practical skills and technical knowledge up to date.

Out of hours

The Christmas party is my favourite Baker McKenzie social event. Although there are regular Trainee and departmental social events, this is often the only time that absolutely everyone gets together in one place.

Pearls of wisdom

All experience is good experience, whether that is working in a shop or going travelling. The Firm is made up of a broad spectrum of people, and working here as a Trainee demands a variety of abilities. There is no 'mould' that every Trainee needs to fit into - indeed, one of the best things about working here is the fact that everybody has their own story and experiences.
